What is CEREC?
CEREC is a technology incorporating 3-D, software and in-office milling to create Hi-Tech, esthetic ceramic restorations for restoring damaged teeth. This process enables us to manufacture these restorations on site and often complete them in a single visit. These metal-free crowns and onlays are very natural, strong and biologically appropriate.
The CEREC Process
During your appointment, Dr. Donnie Dean will discuss the details of the procedure and answer any questions you may have. Following preparation and shaping of your tooth, a camera will be used to make a digital impression instead of a traditional mold. Using CEREC’s proprietary software, your restoration will be designed according to your tooth’s appropriate form and function. Then, the CEREC milling machine will use diamond burs to create your restoration from a small, very strong ceramic block. After final firing of the restoration in a furnace, your crown or onlay will be bonded to your tooth using state-of-the-art adhesive technique.
