Some Of Our Cosmetic Dentistry Procedures:
Dental Bonding
Dental Bonding uses a tooth-colored resin to repair cracked or chipped teeth, close gaps, improve the shape of teeth, or can be used as an alternative to silver amalgam fillings. The resin is applied to the existing tooth, shaped, and hardened using a special light. It is one of the easiest and most inexpensive procedures in cosmetic dentistry.
Porcelain Veneers
Veneers are thin, custom-designed overlays, made of porcelain or resin composite, that are bonded to the front surface of the teeth. Veneers are commonly used in cosmetic dentistry to change the color, shape, size or length of teeth.
1 Visit Dental Crowns
Crowns, commonly known as caps, are placed over damaged teeth to improve the shape, size, strength or appearance of the tooth. Most caps last five to fifteen years and are made of metal, porcelain fused to metal, resin or ceramic. The existing tooth is filed down, allowing the crown to be cemented over it. Because we have our own CEREC technology and dental lab, Dean Cosmetic Dentistry is often able to create your crowns in one visit, with one shot, and no temporaries.
Dental Bridges
Bridges come in many forms in cosmetic dentistry. A dental bridge replaces one or more missing teeth by placing dental crowns on the teeth on either side of the gap, and then attaching artificial teeth between the crowns. A cantilever bridgeis used when there is only one tooth available next to the open space. Maryland bonded bridges are bridges that are supported by a framework between porcelain veneers on the healthy teeth on either side of the gap.
Enamel Shaping
Enamel Shaping is a basic tool of cosmetic dentistry, and is a quick and painless way to shape natural teeth. This procedure is used primarily to correct minor imperfections, uneven teeth, jagged edges, or slightly crowded teeth. Enamel shaping is sometimes done in conjunction with whitening, veneers, or bonding.
Teeth Whitening
Teeth Whitening can be accomplished with toothpastes, over the counter gels, strips and trays, and whitening systems obtained from a dentist. Dean Cosmetic Dentistry now offers EZ White Pro In-Office Whitening System, which can achieve up to 8 shades whiter, in as little as 30 minutes with little or no sensitivity. Individuals with teeth that are yellow in tone tend to see more improvement than those whose teeth have a gray cast.
Composite Fillings
Composite Fillings, from a cosmetic dentistry standpoint, are often used to replace cracked, chipped or worn down silver amalgam fillings. Silver amalgam fillings last longer in cases of larger cavities, but composite fillings do well for smaller cavities.
Dental Implants
Dental Implants, are the preferred option in cosmetic dentistry, for replacing missing teeth when one does not want to place crowns or veneers on the healthy teeth beside the gap where a tooth is missing. Tooth roots are replaced with titanium posts, which provide a strong foundation on which to attach the artificial tooth. Dental implants are also a popular option in lieu of dentures.
Dentures
Dentures are removable replacements for missing teeth and surrounding gum tissue. There are complete dentures, and partial dentures that are used when the individual still has some remaining teeth.
Gum Reshaping
Gum Reshaping can reduce a “gummy smile, and improve the appearance of teeth that appear too short. Using a laser, the gums can be re-contoured to expose more of the teeth.
Gum Grafting
Gum Grafting uses soft tissue grafts from one healthy part of the mouth to an area where the gums are receding. Gum grafting is more than just a cosmetic dentistry issue. This is done not only to improve the look of the gums, but more importantly, it is also done to prevent the tooth roots from being exposed to risk of cavity on the roots, resulting in bone loss. Gum grafting can also help sensitivity that results from hot or cold foods and liquids coming in contact with exposed tooth roots.
Orthodontics
Orthodontics is one of the most recognized cosmetic dentistry specialities. Orthodontics, or braces, correct misaligned teeth by applying gentle, steady pressure over time to slowly move teeth into alignment. Straightened teeth improve your smile’s health and appearance.
