Dr. Dean will also analyze your dental and medical history, perform x-rays, and conduct a CT scan. A CT scan lets Dr. Dean determine your jaw shape and your bone density.
Once you are determined to be a candidate, Dr. Dean will move on to discuss the types of dental implants available for implant dentistry. There are several types of dental implants, including root-form implants, sub-periosteal implants, plate-form implants, ramus-frame implants, and transosseous implants. Dr. Dean will help you decide which implant is best suited for you.
How is the procedure performed?
During the actual implant surgery, a strong titanium post will be placed under the gum in the area of the missing tooth. The post is designed to anchor itself to the jawbone, becoming a permanent part of your mouth. It takes a few months for the implant to fully attach, so Dr. Dean can place a temporary crown on the implant during this period. Once the implant has firmly attached to the bone, much like a natural tooth root, Dr. Dean will affix a permanent, custom-designed dental crown to the top of the post. After a final polish, the treatment is complete.

The dental implant is placed utilizing sophisticated technology and very precise care in order to achieve a comfortable, natural fit.
