Hi everyone, and welcome to the very first episode of our new podcast! I’m Margaret Dean, and I’m so glad you’ve tuned in.
Let’s be honest for a second—when most people think about “going to the dentist,” their minds go to a pretty stressful place. They think of that high-pitched whine of the drill, those messy, gooey putty impressions that make you want to gag, and the dreaded “two-week wait” for a crown.
Well, I’m here to tell you that at Dean Cosmetic Dentistry, we’ve decided that the “old way” of doing things just isn’t good enough for our patients. We believe your time and your comfort are just as important as the health of your smile. Today, I want to take you behind the scenes and show you how we’re using some incredible technology to turn those old dental “problems” into easy, comfortable solutions.
Let’s start with one of the biggest headaches in dentistry: the crown. Traditionally, if you broke a tooth, you’d come in, get numbed up, get a temporary crown, and then wait two weeks for a lab to send back the permanent one. That meant two appointments and two rounds of shots.
We’ve solved that with something called CEREC. It’s “One-Visit” technology. Instead of sending your info to an outside lab, we have a high-tech milling machine right here in the office. We take a digital scan, design your crown on a computer, and mill it from high-grade porcelain while you wait. You walk in with a problem and walk out about an hour later with a permanent, perfect-fitting tooth. No temporary, no second appointment, and no second shot.
Now, let’s talk about the two things people dislike most: the drill and the “goop.”
First, the drill. That sound alone can cause anxiety! But we use the Solea Laser. For many procedures, like filling a cavity, Solea replaces the drill entirely. It’s virtually silent and vibration-free. But the best part? It’s so gentle that most of our patients don’t even need anesthesia. That means no needles and no “fat lip” feeling for the rest of your afternoon. You can literally get a filling and go right to lunch!
And as for those gooey impressions? They’re a thing of the past here. We use the Primescan Intraoral Scanner. It’s just a small handheld wand that takes thousands of high-def 3D images of your teeth in seconds. It’s faster, way more comfortable, and—honestly—significantly more accurate than that old-fashioned putty.
We also want to make sure we’re seeing the full picture of your health. Standard X-rays are “flat” 2D images, which can leave blind spots. That’s why we use Galileos Sirona 3D Imaging. In just 14 seconds, it gives us a high-resolution, three-dimensional view of your jaw and bone structure. This is a game-changer for things like dental implants because it allows Dr. Dean to plan with pinpoint accuracy. No guessing, just predictable, successful results.
And for those of you looking to straighten your smile, we use SureSmile. It uses digital mapping to plot the movement of every single tooth. Because it’s so precise, it can actually straighten teeth up to 29% faster than traditional braces. Whether you’re using clear aligners or specialized wires, we’re getting you to that perfect smile on a much shorter timeline.
You might be wondering, “Margaret, why do you invest so much in all this gear?” It’s simple. We aren’t a corporate-run office. We don’t have a head office telling us to cut corners or rush through appointments. We’re a family practice, and Dr. Donnie Dean treats every patient like a friend. We’ve been blessed with over 1400 five-star reviews, and we believe a big part of that is because we use this technology to make your life easier.
Technology is the bridge that takes a dental “problem” and turns it into a comfortable, high-quality solution. Don’t settle for the “old way” of dentistry. You deserve a dental experience that respects your time and your comfort.
