Our office is committed to providing our patients with the absolute best standard of care. Our office is equipped with the Galileos 3D CT Scanner, which we use to obtain 3D radiographic images of your jaws and facial structures. The Galileos 3D CT Scanner was developed in Germany as a spin off from Siemens Technology. This scanner allows us to get accurate images with the lowest does of radiation and one of the quickest scan times of any similar scanner available today. By combining this low-dose technology, our office can quickly and accurately review anatomic structures in 3-D perspective. This makes our procedures more accurate and predictable.
This scan takes about 15 seconds to take and about 4 minutes to process or render in the office. Also, we do not have to send our patients out for scans to radiology labs, thereby making it more convenient and cost-effective.
The radiation from the Galileos Machine scan is 29 microseverts or 2.9 millirem. Therefore this is less radiation than a standard full mouth set of dental x-rays. This radiation exposure is a fraction of the radiation from a medical CT scanner.
